Friday Art & History Feature - My trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Yesterday, I made a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. I haven't been in a couple of years and it was time to make a visit. In all honesty, I'd live there, if I could! :) It was interesting to be there after visiting the Louvre in Paris last year and to compare the amazing collections. Every time I go to the MET, I discover something I haven't seen before, something that fascinates me and makes me want to go back time and time again.

Here are a few pictures from my trip yesterday of some of my favorites.

Ancient Greek and Roman Art

A Wounded Amazon (Greek)
Venus (Roman)
The Boxer (Greek, on special exhibit at the MET this summer)
Medieval Art

The Holy Family with Saints Anne and Catherine of Alexandria by Jusepe di Ribera (1648)
Winter or La Frileuse, by Jean-Antoine Houdon (1787). This is one of the works of art I discovered for myself on this particular trip. It's fantastic!

    1. Krystal, it's truly amazing. For me, it's one of the three greats, the other two being the Louvre and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg (haven't been there yet). If you're ever in NYC and love art, it's definitely a place to visit!
